Jake and Holly have the kind of love that is so warm, so inviting, so kind. Spending an hour with them for their Crescent Beach maternity photos last winter was such a magical experience.
Crescent Beach Maternity Session
Who says winter isn’t the perfect time for a beach trip?
Jake and Holly and I explored one of my favorite locations on the Olympic Peninsula, Crescent Beach, last winter. Yeah, in November – because that’s when the lake is way less crowded, and that happened to be the perfect time for Holly to show off her baby bump. And even though it wasn’t summertime, we got the most beautiful sunny lighting on the beach for these two.
We chose Crescent Beach for their Washington maternity photos because they’re very big camping & surfing fans, and they often come out and surf there!
I said it once and I will say it again: these two were just magic to experience for an hour. Their love is so warm, so kind, and so inviting to anyone who witnesses it. Holly’s perfect baby bump is what dreams are made of, and Jake’s love for her shines through in every single photo we created together.
Crescent Beach is a 1.5 mile stretch of beach, located west of the Salt Creek Recreation Area. It’s a beautiful spot along the Olympic Peninsula with the most amazing sunrises and plenty of killer ocean views. Prepare to pay a small day-use fee to enter the beach, since it’s privately owned.
And if you’re fans of camping like Jake and Holly, I 10/10 recommend sleeping under the stars after your session here, at the Crescent Beach Campground + RV Park.
Maternity Photo Outfit Ideas
Jake and Holly killed their maternity session outfits, so I thought I’d walk you through them to give you your own maternity outfit inspiration & ideas.
Holly started the session in a super comfy blue tank top, black leggings, and a soft AF white cardigan. The simplicity of this outfit allowed her belly to be the focus, and the cardigan added a layer that could be removed, worn halfway down her shoulders, or worn like a normal cardigan.
Jake added his own flair with a super unique blue & brown patterned, collared shirt, which went perfectly with the simplicity of Holly’s outfit. Too many patterns can be distracting to the eye, but these two made patterns work together beautifully with solid colors.
Holly then changed into the perfect fall sweater, a burnt orange color, and Jake went with another blue patterned shirt. Again – they killed it with the color palette & pattern coordination.
To end the session, Holly changed into the most killer dress, featuring a thin beige material and white flowers that stood out beautifully against the sand. That dress along with her hat & white cardigan made this woman look like the absolute goddess she is.
With Holly wearing a pattern this time around, Jake kept it simple with a white collared shirt & a black vest. Safe to say these two were the best-looking people on the whole ass beach.
